CSV to XLSX Converter

The modern Excel format, written directly rather than via Excel itself. XLSX is a zipped XML workbook — DataTray writes one properly, with your column types intact and multiple sheets if you want them.

Why convert

XLSX, and what it gets you

XLSX replaced the old binary .xls format and is what every current version of Excel, LibreOffice and Google Sheets reads natively. It holds types properly, so a column marked as text stays text — which is exactly what a CSV cannot express and why the conversion is worth doing deliberately.

  • Producing a workbook for someone on a current version of Excel.
  • Converting several CSVs into one workbook with a sheet each.
  • Handing off data with the types recorded, rather than re-guessed on every open.
  • Batch-converting an export folder on a schedule.

How it works

Convert CSV to XLSX in a few clicks

  1. 1

    Add your CSV files

One, several, or a whole folder. Mixed delimiters across files are fine — each is detected separately.

  2. 2

    Choose one workbook or many

Convert each file to its own .xlsx, or combine them into a single workbook with one sheet per source.

  3. 3

    Run it

The batch runs as one job per file, and nothing writes over an existing output.
