My CSV opened as one column

The delimiter was detected wrongly — usually a semicolon-separated European export, or a tab-separated file saved as .csv. Change it in the file bar in Data Explorer, or in the dialect strip in Data Converter. DataTray always shows you what it detected before it acts on it; that strip is there to be corrected.

Accented characters look wrong in Excel

Excel on Windows needs a byte-order mark to read a UTF-8 CSV correctly. DataTray writes one by default. The one exception is the individual part files produced by split by column to CSV — run one of those parts back through a plain convert if Excel mangles it.

"DataTray ran out of memory"

A run exceeded the memory budget DataTray gives itself, which is deliberately less than your whole machine so that a large file cannot take Windows down with it. Let other jobs finish, lower Job concurrency in Settings, and try again.

Every utility says "Bandwidth sharing is off"

That is the funding arrangement working as designed, not a fault. Open Settings ▸ Bandwidth exchange and turn Share idle bandwidth on. If it will not start, see The bandwidth exchange.

A job failed

Open it in the Job Queue, expand its Log, and read the error — it names the file and the reason. Copy log saves the detail to your clipboard. Fix the cause and press Retry.

Rows are missing from my output

Look for a … - rejects.csv or … - removals.csv file beside the output. Rows are never dropped silently — whatever did not make it is written down, with the reason.

The window disappeared

Closing the window only hides it to the tray. Click the DataTray icon near the clock to bring it back — the app is still running. If you cannot see the icon, check behind the ^ chevron.

Double-clicking a data file does not open DataTray

Correct, and deliberate. DataTray registers no file associations and adds nothing to the right-click menu. Drag the file onto the window, or use the file picker. See Getting started.

DataTray did not process a file on its own

It never will. DataTray has no folder watcher and no scheduler: nothing runs until you press Run on a utility panel or on a recipe. If you want the same sequence applied to a new export every week, save it as a recipe and run it on the files when they arrive.

The SQL tab refused my query

The SQL tab is read-only. Statements that write, attach a database, change a session setting, or install or load an extension are refused. Use Data Converter if you want to write a file, or Export from the SQL tab to save your result set.

The "Try it on a sample" button does nothing

Known limitation in this release — the button on the Home screen is not yet wired to the bundled sample file. Drop one of your own files instead.

Duplicate column names are not reported in the profiler

Known limitation in this release. Data Explorer → Columns sees column names after the reader has already made them unique, so it cannot report duplicates. Clean & Anonymize reads the raw header row and does.
